Welcome to Reception
Mrs Buxton and Miss Roberts have lots planned for this year in Reception.
Our doors open at 8.50am and your children must be sat on the carpet ready to learn by 9.00am when class learning starts and the doors are locked.
Attendance is very important and any absences need to be reported to the Mrs Townley in the office.
Welcome to our Reception class page. It is a place for you to find lots of information about your child's learning in school and how you can support it at home.
Our Topic this half term is 'Traditional Tales'
In Summer 1 our Topic is 'Minibeasts' so watch out for the creepy crawlies! .................. In Summer 2 our Topic is 'Super Summer' which is all about the beach and the sea!
This term we will be focusing on letter formation and letter sounds in our writing and phonics sessions.
We will be learning all about different stories like Jack and The Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and The Foggy foggy forest.
We will also be making sandwiches and writing some instructions on how to make them.
In maths we are focusing on addition and 3D shapes.
We will be drawing portraits of our friends and making maps of the different story settings we are learning about.
Just a couple of reminders for you!
Please remember that children should always be wearing school shoes. These should be black shoes, NO trainers, laces or wellies please!
Please ensure that ALL items of uniform are labelled with your child's first and last name. This includes shoes, coats, wellies and jumpers.
P.E kits are needed on Fridays in Reception. All items of P.E kits need to be labelled and in a bag which can be kept in the classroom and sent home at the end of the half term.
Please also note that children will not be able to participate in P.E lessons if they are wearing earrings. They must not come to school in earrings on P.E days.
Our school day finishes at 3.00pm in EYFS and the rest of the school finishes at 3.05pm.
Reading Books and Book Bags
It is really important to bring your child's book bag in every day. Every child should be reading at home at least three times a week and this needs to be recorded in their reading record which you can find in their book bag. If you have keen readers at home, you are welcome to record other books you have enjoyed reading together throughout the week so that Mrs Buxton and Miss Roberts can see your child's favourite books!
Reading books will be changed at different points in the week which is why bookbags should be in every day to ensure your child's book can be changed when it is needed.
Homework will be sent home every Friday to be returned the following week
If you have any questions, please come and find us in the mornings as you drop off your child.
