Attendance - It is vital that your child is in school every day.

The school day starts at 8.50 and the first lesson begins when the children enter the classroom.

School finishes at 3.05pm.

 

PE  -  Year 3 have 2 sessions of PE each week:   Games   Gymnastics

Your child will need to bring the appropriate kit for each lesson.

 

Homework -  is set each Monday in the form of a learning log task. The homework may ask your child to design, research or even create a model of something. Learning log tasks are based around work we have been completing in class, which will extend their learning or apply it to the real world.  Homework is due in on a Friday.

 

Spellings  -  Each Monday, the children will be given a set of spellings to learn for that week. The spellings will be based on spelling rules that the children need to learn in Year 3. These will also include spellings from the Year 3 and 4 statutory word list.   Children will be tested on their spellings every Monday.

  • Tribal Tales (Autumn 1)
  • Scrumdiddlyumptious (Autumn 2)
  • Enterprise (linked to Scrumdiddlyumptious) (Spring 1)
  • Ancient Greeks (Spring 2 & Summer 1)
  • Flow (Summer 2)

 

The history objectives include:

  • To use appropriate historical vocabulary to describe features of a time period.
  • To use a timeline to set out the order of key events.
  • To describe events from the past e.g.  The Olympic Games
  • To compare how our everyday lives are similar/different to those in Ancient Greece.
  • To describe the influence and achievements of Ancient Greek's on the wider world. 
  • To compare and contrast the lives of the rich and the poor within Ancient Greece. 

 

The ART AND DESIGN objectives are :

  • To research and describe Ancient Greek art and purposes.
  • To compare Ancient Greek pottery to the Stone Age pottery.
  • To experiment with clay and different sculpting techniques.
  • To design and create our own Greek pottery.
  • To paint and review our own Greek pottery.
